The Pescadero Education Foundation (PEF) is a 501(c)3 non-profit that supports about 250 students in grades Pre-K through 12 enrolled in Pescadero schools.
The South Coast is a rural and geographically isolated 160 square miles region in San Mateo County with many children living on the small farms where their parents fuel the area's agricultural economy.
While this remoteness and diversity of families give our small district its cherished personality, South Coast students lack access to basic public resources like parks, playgrounds, libraries, public transportation & supermarkets. Shared housing is prevalent with multiple families sharing housing, trailers, or apartments with no access to licensed childcare providers or center-based care for youngsters of working families. The resulting isolation affects the well-being of children and parents.
PEF helps bridge these gaps by funding some of our kids most cherished programs. In recent years, PEF raised and allocated funding to support the following programs and activities for students across Pescadero Elementary, Middle & High Schools:
* School Beautification Projects, Including Numerous Murals
* School Garden
* Art in Action Program
* Funding for the Washington DC Trip for Middle School Students
* Varsity Sports
* Performance Arts
* Heirs to Our Ocean Club
* Funds for Outdoor Education for 5th Graders
* Field Trips (art, science, history, technology, music and live performances)
* Teacher Appreciation Annual Events
* School Assemblies
* Continued Education Scholarships
* Girls on the Run
* Lego Club
* Media Class
* Creative Writing Club
* Drama Club
